KATIE COKINOS
Katie began her career in films as an administrative assistant at the influential Houston, TX media arts organization, Southwest Alternate Media Project (1988 – 1990), and produced Eagle Pennell’s independent film, Heart Full of Soul (1990).

She was the Managing Director of the Austin Film Society (1990-1995) and the first publicist for Richard Linklater’s debut feature film, Slacker (1991).

Katie wrote, directed and starred in Portrait of a Girl as a Young Cat (2000, 60 mins.), which premiered at SXSW.

Katie wrote and directed the coming of age feature film, I Dream Too Much, (2015, 90 mins.), which premiered at SXSW, was distributed by The Orchard, and bought by Netflix. She also co-wrote/directed two short films with poet Guy Reed,How the World Looks Now, (2018, 11 mins.) and Water Keeps Time, (2021, 30 mins.).
In addition to writing screenplays, Katie is the Senior Programmer at the independent cinema Upstate Films (Orpheum Theater, Saugerties, NY) and founder of the Saugerties Film Society.
